Wildlife Officers Print

Wildlife Officers are mainly involved in the enforcement of wildlife conservation legislation. The objective of the legislation is the conservation of flora and fauna in the wild. The work covers:

  • Inspection of bird dealers' premises
  • Inspection of kangaroo processing establishments
  • Inspection of kangaroo carcass chiller units
  • Overseeing activities of licensed bird trappers
  • Overseeing professional kangaroo shooters
  • Investigating applications for licences
  • Regulation of open seasons
  • Monitoring flora and fauna populations
  • Co-ordinating the rescue of injured fauna
  • Providing assistance and advice to the public on wildlife matters
