The State Government is encouraging people to become involved in the planning for new marine parks and reserves along the Pilbara and Eighty Mile Beach coastline.

The community engagement program will begin in April with public information sessions in Broome, Eighty Mile Beach, Port Hedland, Onslow, Karratha and Perth.

The human ‘footprint' in the Pilbara and lower west Kimberley marine environment is growing and there is a need for more integrated marine planning and management so that our marine environment remains in excellent condition.

One strategy announced by the State Government is to expand the Marine Park and reserve system in the Pilbara and lower west Kimberley (Eighty Mile Beach) regions.
