Call for public nominations for listing (and delisting) of threatened plants and animals Print

The Western Australian Threatened Species Scientific Committee (TSSC) is appointed by the Minister for the Environment with administrative support provided by the Department of Environment and Conservation.

The role of the Committee is to:

  • review and make recommendations annually to the Minister, via the Executive Director of the Department of Conservation and Land Management and the WA Conservation Commission, on threatened and specially protected flora and fauna;
  • allocate the threatened taxa to IUCN categories of threat annually, for endorsement by the Minister; and
  • provide advice and recommendations to the Executive Director of the Department of Conservation and Land Management in respect of research and management needs arising from its reviews of taxonomic lists and threat categories.

The TSSC meets at least once each year to consider any nominations received since the previous meeting.

The public is invited to submit nominations to add taxa to, or delete taxa from, the current Declared Rare Flora and Specially Protected Fauna lists. The following Adobe Acrobat documents can be viewed and/or printed (requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader- the Acrobat Reader link opens in a new browser window):
