The spectacular waters of the Capes are home to a wealth of marine life and provide the basis for a range of recreational and commercial opportunities.
In recognition of the area’s high ecological and social values, the Government and the Marine Parks and Reserves Authority identified the waters around the Geographe Bay-Leeuwin Naturaliste-Hardy Inlet area as a priority for consideration as a marine conservation reserve.
Between 6 September and 15 December 2006, the Minister for the Environment released the Indicative Management Plan for the Proposed Geographe Bay/Leeuwin-Naturaliste/Hardy Inlet Marine Park for public comment. Although the public submission period has closed, copies of the information are available from the article index.
