Achievements Print

Since its establishment, the WRG has:

  • held regular business meetings to plan and coordinate activities;
  • developed and is implementing its Wandoo Action Plan;
  • developed and is implementing its Communications Plan;
  • developed a Wandoo Research Strategy;
  • prepared a Wandoo Crown Decline Situation Statement, July 2006;
  • developed the WRG Assessment Guide and is coordinating a series of community-based surveys aimed at monitoring the health status of local stands of wandoo;
  • prepared and circulated a series of News Bulletins;
  • prepared media articles for publication in newsletters and magazines;
  • conducted information days and field trips to raise community awareness about wandoo crown decline and the activities the WRG;
  • provided advice and communicated progress of research and activities to the Minister, key stakeholders and active partners of the WRG;
  • provided a forum for community input;
  • held a Community Forum in June 2005, to provide participants with an opportunity for community input and feedback;
  • hosted a Wandoo Science Workshop in July 2005, to set direction for future research;
  • help organise and run a Woodland Decline Symposium held in November 2006;
  • supported researchers in their work;
  • supported a vegetation mapping survey undertaken by CALM to assess wandoo canopy condition at landscape scales;
  • monitored and recorded ground water levels in deep bores within the Helena catchment, WA and related the findings to a reduction in stored soil moisture; and
  • provided advice to regional natural resource management councils about wandoo crown decline.
