Management Plans

MANAGEMENT PLANS FOR EXISTING MARINE RESERVES VESTED IN THE MPRA

The legislation requires that there be an approved management plan for each marine nature reserve, marine park and marine management area vested in the MPRA, and specifies the procedures that must be followed in preparing those plans.

Management plans are prepared by the Department of Environment and Conservation on behalf of the MPRA. Draft plans are released for public comment before the MPRA submits them for approval to the Minister for the Environment.

Notice that a Management Plan has been approved by the Minister is published in the Gazette . Plans come into operation on the day of publication and are regularly reviewed.
