Indicative Management Plan

The indicative management plan is a draft document prepared by the Department and a community-based advisory committee, or other participation mechanism, for the Minister for the Environment.

The draft indicative management plan provides the basis for managing the reserve once established. The indicative management plan includes a vision statement for the reserve, and the strategic objectives needed to achieve the vision. The indicative management plan also outlines the management objectives, strategies and targets needed to achieve the strategic objectives.

The indicative management plan is developed from the best available information on the ecological and social values of the area and contributions from stakeholders. It is called an indicative plan because it indicates the proposed approach. Following public submissions, the reserve is formally created and the Minister approves the management plan.
