This 375-hectare national park is notable for its diversity of native plants. Piesse Brook runs through the park and the rising slopes of its valley are covered with an open woodland of jarrah, marri, wandoo and butter gum.
Butter gum is an uncommon species with a powdery bark; because of its white bark it is sometimes called Darling Range ghost gum. The heath plants of the understorey flower profusely in late winter and spring.
There are several waltrails through the park, including the first stage of the Bibbulmun Track, a long-distance walktrail from Perth to Albany.
