The Kimberley Strategy

The State Government has made a commitment to develop an integrated Kimberley Science and Conservation Strategy to ensure the region's natural and cultural values are protected as its economic potential is fulfilled.

A synthesis of scientific knowledge to support conservation management in the Kimberley region of WA has been prepared by the Department of Environment and Conservation as a starting point to summarise scientific knowledge relevant to biodiversity conservation in the region. It is acknowledged that this document is not yet a comprehensive summary, particularly in respect of research conducted by other organisations and research that is unpublished.

Further information will be added during the course of stakeholder consultation and people are welcome to forward details of scientific knowledge about the region to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Volunteers over 16 years of age are registered, insured against personal accident and given guidance and training. People under the age of 16 may take part, but will need parental permission and control and, unfortunately, cannot insured.
